Dr. Kyle D. Null is a Research Lead for Comprehensive Health Insights (CHI). He has research experience using retrospective administrative pharmacy and medical claims databases, including studies on adherence, health insurance benefit design, outcomes, and quality measures. He has expertise in healthcare payment systems, including risk-adjusted capitated payment methodologies used in Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, and managed Medicaid plans, as well as bundled and prospective payment systems used in ambulatory, hospital, long-term care, and skilled nursing facilities. He also has experience in quality and performance-based payment systems used in accountable care organizations and in the Medicare Quality Rating System. His research interests focus on improving risk-adjusted capitated payment methodologies, measuring health care quality, and evaluating interventions designed to impact quality measures in managed care populations. Dr. Null completed a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in 2005 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences (emphasis in pharmacy administration) degree in 2012, both from The University of Mississippi.
Prior to joining CHI, Dr. Null was a research assistant professor at the University of Mississippi, serving as the clinical director of Mississippi Medicaid’s retrospective drug utilization review. He has designed adherence management programs, including the analytics platform, educational outreach, and reporting, for Mississippi Medicaid and for a national pharmacy benefits manager. Dr. Null is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy (JMCP) and he is actively involved in the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), serving as co-chair of the Medication Use Safety Workgroup, and as a member of the Measure Update Panel and Ad hoc Panel on Sociodemographic Risk Adjustment for Medication-related Measures. Dr. Null is a registered pharmacist and has over 15 years of experience in retail pharmacy and over 8 years conducting primary marketing research and health services research using administrative claims data.
